Message from the Representative Director
As of March 31, 2025, there were 373 social medical corporations and 307 specified medical corporations.
Although social medical corporations enjoy reductions in corporate and fixed asset taxes, they are still far from on an equal footing with municipal hospitals that provide the same emergency care. There is a system under which social medical corporations can receive municipal subsidies as public hospitals, but examples remain few.
Because the specified medical corporation system is based on the Act on Special Measures Concerning Taxation, it could be reviewed from scratch in the future.
In addition, the periodic submission documents required every year remain voluminous and place a heavy practical burden on corporations. The Council will continue to address these issues through lectures and answering questions.
